How to properly request an error

May 27, 2012 1 comment

I’ve been told that people don’t know how to send errors to be via personal message due to the new layout making everything confusing. This simple tutorial should put an end to all the confusion.

STEP 1: GO TO MY CHANNEL.

STEP 2: LOOK ON THE RIGHT SIDE, CLICK ON THE ARROW. A DROP DOWN MENU WILL APPEAR, CLICK ON “SEND MESSAGE”.

STEP 3: COMPOSE YOUR ERROR REQUEST. THIS IS JUST ONE WAY HOW TO MAKE IT. YOU CAN LINK IT TO ATOM SMASHER, OR TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT IN YOUR ERROR IN THE PERSONAL MESSAGE.

STEP 4: BAM. YOU’RE DONE.

OKAY, I’LL STOP SHOUTING NOW.

ACTA is NOT going to be passed tomorrow (January 26)

Note: This was created after reading this Tumblr post, please read this firsthttp://nextian.tumblr.com/post/16501722872/guys-acta-does-not-go-into-effect-tomorrow-nor

Throughout the history of the Internet, there have been countless scams and hoaxes infesting various portions of the Internet, spreading like the plague through social media websites, inducing fear into those duped into believing them. A memorable hoax that sprung up about ten months ago was an absurd map that circulated the web immediately following the news that the Fukushima Daiichi plant was in trouble, proclaiming that deadly levels (7.5 sieverts to be exact) of radioactive material would somehow reach the Western Seaboard of North America and kill millions. I saw many people on Facebook who became terrified immediately, and I moved to quash the rumor, citing that the logo of the Australian Radiation Service had been crudely slapped on using Photoshop, and that the numbers used were outdated, as the scale was measured in rads, instead of the modern sievert system.

Unfortunately, such hoaxes continue to spread even in 2012. As long as there exists an internet, hoaxes, rumors, and lies will be disseminated at will. There is one occurring right now at the time I type this post. It involves ACTA, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. Like the two infamous pieces of American legislation known as SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act), it is a flawed proposition that would bring unfortunate consequences to people across the globe.

However, there is a rumor going around that ACTA will be going into effect tomorrow, and many Internet users proclaim it will destroy the Internet. These proclamations can be see all over Tumblr, in particular. They’ve even collected well over a hundred thousand signatures protesting the legislation.

Let me be clear. ACTA will not end the Internet tomorrow. I sensed this sudden and mysterious panic outbreak across the Web was the spark of a rumor and Internet hoax that said ACTA would somehow wipe out the Internet. No. This is not going to happen tomorrow.

What is happening tomorrow is that the Polish government, and the European Commission (not Union, see) is planning to sign ACTA, much to the dismay of many Europeans, and especially a few particular Internet activist groups. The European Union, on the other hand, is only at the discussion stage, which does not even begin until late February to early March of 2012. Even then, a final vote is still months off, which is expected in June. This vote will be put to the European Parliament, which will decide ACTA’s ultimate fate. It is worth noting that many European Union committees have expressed concerns and doubts with ACTA. It all comes down to the European Parliament to decide whether ACTA will live to wreak havoc upon the Internet, or condemn it to destruction.

It is acceptable that governments would wish to clamp down on criminal counterfeiting operations. What is not acceptable, however, is a fragmented piece of legislation that only does more damage than good.

ACTA must be stopped. Sign petitions, talk to the people you know about it, and be proactive. Failure to do so will condemn the Internet into a dark age of depression. Spreading false rumors to terrorize the community, however, is no way to stop ACTA. Granted, such actions may work, but when people realize it was a lie from the get-go, they will take the issue more or less seriously.

Breaking the silence.

Oh. Hello. I seem to have re-discovered WordPress. My first and only post was back in 2010? Wasn’t that the year the cavemen roamed the Earth? Yep, sounds about right.

Anyways, I guess I’ll be using this blog from now on instead of Blogspot. So watch this blog for more posts soon. I promise, I won’t abandon this blog. Trust me.

I have nothing worthy more to say right now, so, I’ll be writing later.

Hello fellow Earthlings. I have stumbled across this blogger-extravaganza called WordPress, and it seems a lot better than Google’s Blogger. From now on, I will be using this blog instead, as it appears more interesting that Blogger. I will be posting on my old blog my transition, and hopefully everyone will catch on. More posts will be coming soon to a theatre near you! No, not really, more like a internet near you. Anyways, that’s all I have to say for now, see you in the next post.
